George And Debbie

WELCOME TO OUR WEBSITE!

Over the years we have had the pleasure of meeting many of our customers (friends) in person, either at our home in Phoenix, or while attending the Franklin, New Jersey or Tucson, Arizona mineral shows. Unfortunately, there are still many of you whom we have not had the opportunity to meet. For those people, we have included a picture, and would like to take this opportunity to tell you a little about ourselves.

Debbie has been a flight attendant for Southwest Airlines for the past 30 years. She is originally from Chicago, Illinois, and moved to Phoenix, Arizona in 1992. Debbie and George met in 1995, and were married in 1998. Although she is not quite a fluorescent mineral collector yet, she does enjoy attending mineral shows, and doing field collecting when she can. Debbie loves scouring flea markets and antique malls for vintage treasures.

George is a professional geologist, and for 26 years, practiced environmental geology in the state of Arizona. From 1999 until 2013, George was President of Polman Environmental, Inc., an environmental consulting firm. George officially retired from consulting geology in 2013, and changed the name of his corporation from Polman Environmental, Inc. to Polman Ultraviolet, Inc. George is now dedicated full time to selling fine fluorescent mineral specimens and ultraviolet lamps.

George is originally from Westfield, New Jersey, and moved to Houston, Texas after he graduated college in 1981. While in Houston, he worked for Tenneco, a large oil and gas company. George started Polman Minerals in the early 1980s, and sold mostly at the Houston Gem and Mineral Society show. He moved to Phoenix, Arizona in 1987, and worked at various environmental consulting firms until starting his own in 1999. In 1999, Polman Minerals became a division of Polman Environmental, Inc., and is now a division of Polman Ultraviolet, Inc. George has been collecting fluorescent minerals since he was 8 years old (yes, they had ultraviolet lamps back then!), and enjoys showing people his collection when they visit.
